Robert J. Walling III, FCAS, MAAA, CERA, is a Principal and Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. and has been in the insurance industry since 1989, consulting since 1997. He is focused on actuarial studies for captives and self-insureds, enterprise risk management (ERM), commercial lines ratemaking and loss reserving, legislative costing, regulatory consulting and litigation support. He has consecutively been named one of Captive Review’s Captive Power 50. He has served on numerous CAS and AAA committees, task forces and working groups, several as the chair. He is also a member of the faculty of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE). Mr. Walling is a frequent speaker at industry meetings on captives and alternative markets, ERM, insurance regulatory issues, medical professional liability and government insurance program topics, predictive analytics and professionalism.
Erich A. Brandt, FCAS, MAAA, is a Senior Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. the Bloomington, Illinois office, with over twenty years’ experience as an actuary. Mr. Brandt has considerable experience in assignments involving loss reserving,funding studies, cost allocation mechanisms, loss cost projections, competitive analysis, captive feasibility studies, personal lines ratemaking and financial analysis of insurance companies. Mr. Brandt has made numerous presentations to brokers, corporate risk managers,and CFO’s regarding loss reserving, future loss projections and how their company’s characteristics impact their actuarial calculations. He also works at length with the students/faculty at Illinois State University (ISU) by speaking at actuarial club and Katie School Insurance & Risk Management functions in addition to engaging in joint research. Furthermore, Mr. Brandt is a member of the advisory board for the actuarial science major at ISU.
Gregory W. Fears, Jr. ACAS, MAAA, ARM, is a Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. in the Bloomington, Illinois, office. He has 17 years of experience in the property/casualty industry. Mr. Fears has considerable experience in assignments involving loss reserving, funding studies, loss cost projections, captive feasibility studies, risk margin calculations, simulation methods, deductible analysis, cost allocation mechanisms, financial analysis of insurance companies, commercial lines ratemaking and competitive analysis. Mr. Fears has made numerous presentations to industry professionals regarding loss reserving, future loss projections and how their company’s characteristics impact their actuarial calculations. He also works with the students and faculty at Illinois State University by assisting with the compilation of data for academic research, and discussing the actuarial profession with current and prospective actuarial science majors.
