A strong predictive model can provide great competitive advantage for insurance organizations. It takes a lot of work to develop a successful model—including steps in the work that many of us may not consider. Presenters will explain the beginning-to-end process of developing predictive models, share best practices and provide ways to strengthen modeling processes. Sample R code will be used throughout the presentation to illustrate basic data assessment and modeling steps.
Greg Frankowiak, FCAS, MAAA, CPCU, CSPA, MSM is a Senior Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. in Bloomington, Illinois and has over 20 years of property and casualty actuarial experience. Mr. Frankowiak has extensive experience in predictive analytics for both pricing and underwriting, product management and strategy development, underwriting/operations, ratemaking for private passenger automobile and homeowners insurance, as well as regulatory and filing support and business intelligence. Prior to consulting, he worked for a leading primary insurance carrier where he was responsible for the development and execution of predictive analytics strategies as part of its pricing and underwriting functions. He has worked for many years as a leader and effective business partner with senior management from numerous functions, including the development of and presentation on many topics leading to the establishment and achievement of corporate goals.
Radost Roumenova Wenman, FCAS, MAAA, CSPA, is a Consulting Actuary with Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. in the San Francisco, California office. She holds a Master of Science degree in Statistics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Stanford University. Ms. Wenman has over 12 years of experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance arena, focusing on pricing and product development. In this role, Ms. Wenman has developed homeowners and private passenger auto pricing solutions through the design and implementation of advanced predictive models.
Ms. Wenman serves the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) as a member of the CAS Actuarial Review Committee and member of the CAS Predictive Analytics in Capital Modeling Working Party.
