Pinnacle is excited to be joining the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies at the 120th NAMIC Annual Convention in San Diego, September 27-30. With almost 1,400 registered attendees, this is a great opportunity to engage with executives and managers representing over 250 property and casualty insurance companies.

The first mutual insurance company was established in 1752 when Benjamin Franklin formed the Philadelphia Contributionship for the Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire. A mutual insurance company is owned entirely by its policy holders and any profits are returned to these policyholders either as dividends or a reduction in future premiums. The NAMIC national organization was formed in 1895 with a focus on education and advocacy. Membership has since been expanded to include stock companies, reinsurance companies, and insurance vendor companies.

Mutual companies are a major presence in the insurance industry. They serve more than 135 million auto, home, and business policyholders with almost $200 billion in annual premiums. Additionally, the 1,400 member companies of NAMIC have more than 200,000 employees.

The NAMIC conference agenda includes both general sessions and more specialized concurrent sessions. Topics include business strategy, loss control, consumer shopping, social media marketing, weather trends, cyber security, virtual workforces, claims, data analytics, usage-based insurance, and advocacy issues including drones and the sharing economy.

This annual event is a great opportunity to engage insurance industry leaders on current and arising topics and focus on the needs of our present and future clients. We’re also excited to be discussing the consumer data and analytics available with our strategic partner Vertafore. Stay tuned for our blog following the conference to hear about new trends and insights.
