Unique professional development program celebrates its 11th year of exploring essential topics in the insurance industry and actuarial profession.

Bloomington, Ill. – Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. (Pinnacle) announces the 2024 installment of Pinnacle University, a continuing education initiative with several national universities, to be held virtually and at Pinnacle’s home office in Bloomington on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27.

Pinnacle University is a unique development opportunity for students studying actuarial science. It exposes students to professional situations and gives them the opportunity to research current and emerging issues in the insurance industry. The program offers real-world business experience in project management, team collaboration and the delivery of business presentations.

“Since our founding, Pinnacle has been committed to the growth of the actuarial profession,” Pinnacle Managing Principal Joe Herbers said. “The Pinnacle University program has become a key facet of our efforts to give back to and grow our industry. It gives students a genuine glimpse into the ins, outs and demands of an actuarial career.”

For Pinnacle University, selected actuarial students work alongside Pinnacle’s actuarial professionals to research topics of actuarial and insurance-related significance and interest.

At the event, the collaborative teams present their findings to a panel composed of credentialed actuaries from Pinnacle, representatives from insurance companies, universities and other actuarial organizations. The professionals critique and discuss conclusions, content and execution of the presentation.

Social inflation, workers’ compensation for athletes and fairness in insurance regulation are a few of the industry issues and topics of this year’s Pinnacle University sessions.

“Pinnacle University has welcomed dozens and dozens of students for over a decade,” Pinnacle Senior Consulting Actuary Erich Brandt said. “Those talented individuals have made very substantial marks on our profession and have gone onto very successful actuarial careers with any number of organizations. We are very proud to continue Pinnacle University’s great legacy again this year.”

The event will be privately held and via invite only, but the Pinnacle University teams will publish blogs on the Pinnacle website that will be publicly available in the coming months.
