The consulting actuary functions as an independent advisor to insurance companies; corporations; federal, state and local governments; and trade associations on actuarial matters. Works on a client base of others and/or works toward developing their own client base as an account executive, or provides predictive analytics services to clients. Works in and leads project teams, and leads actuarial analyses and client services.
The data technician participates in the delivery of actuarial consulting projects, reviews raw data files in spreadsheets and similar formats for completeness, consistency and accuracy; summarizes detailed data to the level needed for input into actuarial models; inputs data accurately into actuarial models; manipulates existing code for data processing under the direction of a project manager; reviews and updates formulas and code in spreadsheets and/or other analytical software; completes technical review of data input into actuarial models; independently performs basic logical validations on inputs and outputs, ensure consistency of processes with original design and more.
The information technology (IT) analyst performs various IT-related duties in support of the firm’s business goals and requirements. Assists in maintaining information technology systems to ensure timely problem resolution and minimize service interruptions. Provides technical support and training on a variety of hardware and software systems.
The technical analyst works under the direction of a supervisor, project manager or account executive to support client relationships in order to provide accurate information and feedback. The technical analyst will assist with complex technical analyses for the decision-makers and other audiences for whom the results are relevant.
